Vote for The Autumn Haiku Contest, Part 4

23 Jan

orange flower (640x449)The new year has began, and it’s time to vote for The Autumn Haiku Contest.  Forty six haiku have been submitted from all over the world including USA, France, Ireland, Greece, Israel, Australia, Philippines, and India.  Much thanks to the entrants who have shared their love of haiku.

I’ve published the haiku entries in the series of four posts on January 13 (Monday), January 16 (Thursday), January 20 (Monday), and January 23 (Thursday).  Please vote for your favorite haiku in each post!  The best four haiku will be announced on  February 3 (Monday).  And then the winner will be chosen from the best four, using the same method.

The first thirty five entries have already been published.  Click here (voting 1), here (voting 2), and here (voting 3) to see the lists and cast your vote. Here are the last eleven entries.  Use the poll at the end of the list to vote for your favorite.

First storm–

kids busy collecting

the colours

Autumn dusk –

the length of shadows

in my heart

Autumn again-

all the colours of my love

in her kimono

Yellowed leaf a new

chapter begins

After windstorm

a slipped hedgehog

sunk among the fallen leaves

Dry leaves underfoot

she reminds herself

to moisturize her hands

Autumn trees

the dog plays dead

for treats

Rust and gold

amongst those leaves I

too shall sleep

A bell with

silent resonance…

the mountain

War memorial-

before reaching the shore

many waves vanish

Numbers don’t exist –

but they can have their uses ~

counting falling leaves

I think this was my favorite batch of haikus so far, it was hard to vote for a favorite! Even though I went with #36, I really liked #40 also. The image of the slipped hedgehog really made me smile.

Thank you for appreciating my haiku #36. Basically I am a scientist, but often I ink some poetic images through the art of words.

Your haiku was lovely. It really brought back memories of myself as a child when I would collect leaves in the fall.
